Information we collect
When you book a trial class, create an account, or contact us, we may collect information such as your (or your child's) name, email address, age or date of birth, and any details you share about learning goals or scheduling. If you enroll in a paid plan, our payment processor collects your billing details directly — we never see or store your full card number.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Match students with an appropriate teacher and schedule classes
- Communicate with you about bookings, billing, and support
- Send account-related emails, such as login and password-reset messages
- Improve our programs and teaching quality
- Meet legal and safeguarding obligations
Children's privacy
Many of our students are minors. Where a student is under the age of digital consent in their country, a parent or guardian creates and manages the account on their behalf — students do not sign up directly. We only collect the information needed to schedule and deliver lessons safely, we do not knowingly allow a child to submit personal information without a guardian's involvement, and we do not use children's information for targeted advertising or sell it to anyone. A parent or guardian can review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information at any time by contacting us.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share limited information only where it's needed to run the service:
- Teachers, so they can prepare for and deliver your classes
- Paddle, our payment processor, to handle billing, receipts, and applicable taxes — Paddle acts as merchant of record for purchases and maintains its own privacy policy covering the payment details it collects
- Resend, our email delivery provider, to send account and transactional emails such as password resets
- Infrastructure providers who host our website and application, bound by their own confidentiality and security obligations
We do not use any advertising or analytics tracking on this site.
Cookies
We use one strictly necessary cookie, hq_session, to keep you signed in after you log in. It doesn't track you across other websites and isn't used for advertising. Because it's essential to how the site works, blocking it in your browser will sign you out and prevent you from reaching your dashboard. We don't currently use analytics or advertising cookies.
International data transfers
We're based in the United States and teach students around the world. Depending on where you and our service providers are located, your information may be processed or stored in a different country than the one you live in. Where that applies, we rely on our providers' own safeguards — such as Paddle's and Resend's data protection commitments — for those transfers.
Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, or safeguarding obligations. You can ask us to delete your account and its associated data at any time, subject to those obligations.
Security
We use industry-standard measures — including encrypted connections and hashed passwords — to help protect your information. No online service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to keep your data safe and will let you know if we become aware of a breach affecting your information.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain uses of it — including rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) and the CCPA (California). Contact us using the details below to make a request, and we'll respond within a reasonable time.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the date below and, where appropriate, let you know directly.
